March 11, 2024

CTE congratulates the Congress for passing H.R. 4366, the “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024,” which includes discretionary appropriations for the Department of Transportation for fiscal year 2024, marking a historic moment for the nation’s transit system. The legislation includes a vital appropriation of $3.6 million for technical assistance, research and development to help zero emission bus deployment that will support the Transit Vehicle Innovation Deployment Center (TVIDC) program. This investment showcases the government’s continued commitment to advancing zero-emission technologies and supporting the ongoing transformation of the transit vehicle industry.

The TVIDC program, which has been at the forefront of deploying innovative transit vehicle technologies, will utilize the funds to continue fostering the development and application of clean, energy-efficient transportation options. The allocated resources will enhance the capability of transit agencies to execute successful transition strategies towards a greener, more sustainable future.

Dan Raudebaugh, Executive Director for the CTE, expressed his enthusiasm for the act’s passage, stating:

“The passage of the FY24 Consolidated Appropriations Act and the specific provision of $3.6 million for the TVIDC program reflects a commitment to address extended research and innovation around zero-emission transportation technologies. We look forward to continuing our work with the FTA and Congress to sustain this momentum and ensure that federal investments keep pace with industry advancements in medium-and heavy-duty markets.”
