The Center for Transportation and the Environment is working with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) on a Low Carbon Transportation and Fuels Investments and Air Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) project to develop and demonstrate an electric top loader at the Port of Los Angeles. CTE is joined by NREL, Hyster-Yale, Nuvera, WAVE, Stratos Fuel, and Eagle Marine Services, to develop the top loader. The vehicle will include fuel cell range extension and wireless charging capabilities.
CTE will manage the advanced technology electric top loader project team. NREL will collect and analyze data for the project; Hyster-Yale will manufacture and integrate the vehicle; Nuvera will supply and integrate the propulsion system; WAVE will provide the wireless charging system; Stratos Fuel will supply the mobile hydrogen fueling; and Eagle Marine Services will operate the vehicle.
