Hybrid Hydrogen Yard Tractor

So far in Phase 1 of this 2-phase project, the team has gathered and clarified all sponsor requirements, goals, and constraints and confirmed solicitation requirements and goals. Options for the power system components on the yard tractor have been compiled. The team decided to use two Hydrogenics HyPM 16kW fuel cell modules along with Corvus Energy lithium-polymer batteries. A three cylinder 700 bar Lincoln vessel arrangement will be utilized in the hydrogen storage system.
The team has finalized the terminal tractor design details and finished work with the System Design Package report. The selected vehicle architecture advances the technology readiness and commercial acceptance of 700 bar hydrogen systems, as well as lithium batteries with advanced battery management systems, which allow for safe and reliable battery operation. The team has also begun constructing mechanical and electrical schematics of the vehicle architecture, as well as assembling a vehicle bill of materials.
The Phase II proposal is nearing completion. The Scope of Work was written based on the final vehicle design and sponsor requirements. The Scope of Work will be used to establish the budget and draft the proposal.
