County of Hawai’i Renewable Fuel Bus Study

County of Hawai’i Renewable Fuel Bus Study

The Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE) is partnering with the County of Hawai’i to conduct a renewable fuel bus planning study. The County of Hawai’i is planning to convert its fleet to renewable energy – using the islands’ abundant geothermal, hydro, wind, and solar energy sources. CTE will conduct an analysis to consider zero-emission bus technologies, fueling methods, and renewable fuel pathways.

While the analysis will cover the County of Hawai’i’s entire fixed-route service, the first stage of the project will focus on purchasing and deploying two battery-electric buses.
