Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is partnering with CTE to deploy five battery electric New Flyer Xcelsior XE60 heavy-duty, low-floor, 60-ft articulated buses and a 450 kW on-route rapid charger. Project partners also include CTE members Siemens and University of Texas – Center for Electromechanics (UT-CEM). The team will deploy the buses on the Silver Line Bus Rapid Transit System in Boston. The new zero-emission buses will have improved performance on ice and snow-covered roads. This project is funded through the FTA’s LoNo program that facilitates the development of commercially viable zero and near zero emission bus technology and related infrastructure.
